Ambassador: Dr. Alix Barnes

Alix Barnes is a cardiology fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She is from Raleigh, NC and completed her MD at the University of North Carolina prior to moving to the Ohio State University for internal medicine residency and a chief resident year. Following her IM training, Alix completed a palliative care fellowship at Northwestern University. She is interested in cardiac critical care, palliative care, medical education and communication training. Outside of work, she is an avid Carolina Hurricanes fan and enjoys working out on her Peloton as well as spending time with her dog Dougie and 2 cats Cullen and Brindamour.

The CardioNerds Healy Honor Roll & Ambassadors Program

The CardioNerds Healy Honor Roll is the list of cardiovascular fellowship programs which support the CardioNerds mission to Democratize Cardiovascular Education. These programs foster the CardioNerds spirit by:

The CardioNerds Ambassadors are fellows nominated by CardioNerds fellowships to represent education at their program. They are an esteemed group of highly motivated individuals with a passion for education. The goal is to both:

  • Ensure representation on the platform from their programs
  • Foster their individual personal & professional development

The CardioNerds Healy Honor Roll is named after Dr. Bernadine Patricia Healy, a CardioNerd Hero who was the first female director of the National Institutes of Health and accomplished incredible achievements during her career.
